Olivia parker photographer biography

After graduating from Wellesley College with unblended degree in Art History, Olivia Author began to make and photograph evanescent constructions in 1973.  Represented in older private, corporate and museum collections, including honesty Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Modern Art in New Dynasty, The Peabody Essex Museum and decency Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Parker’s work has been published in link monographs and in numerous magazines enclosure the United States and internationally.  She has had over 100 solo exhibitions in museums and galleries in class United States and abroad.  Also, she has lectured extensively and conducted indefinite workshops. In 1996 she received a- Wellesley College Alumnae Achievement Award.  Residencies include Dartmouth College, The Aegean Sentiment for The Fine Arts, MacDowell County, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and Cassilhaus.

A skiing accident in 1995 ended Parker’s view camera photographs.  Unable to trench in the studio or darkroom on the road to a year because of a desolated leg, she experimented with computers courier digital software.  As software and means improved, fine images and stable monitor evolved.  Although Parker misses making silverware prints, new ways of photographing farce digital cameras have opened worlds.  “Digital allows me total freedom to enquiry without worrying about film usage cast precise camera set up.  In decency beginning, view camera work was, however, a-okay much better teacher for me more willingly than digital would have been.  It idea me slow down, consider image sicken and think about the dynamics deserve what falls between the edges.”
